Click through to today’sAccessory Reportfor all the details!
Who is trying this trend?
This trend might only just be hitting the mainstream, but it is definitely coming on hot and heavy—all four of our muses have rocked tribal necklaces in the past two weeks. Emma Roberts kicked things off when she wore a colorful beaded necklace to the Coachella Music Festival in California last week. Just a day later, Solange Knowles showed off a neon-hued tribal necklace at the 2012 Tribeca Ball in New York City. The very next day, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted wearing a tooth-shaped necklace while out to lunch in Beverly Hills, and a day after that, Gwen Stefani wore a spiked necklace while out and about elsewhere in Los Angeles.
How are they styling it?
It is plain to see that you can wear your tribal necklace in a number of ways. Both Emma and Solange used their tribal necklaces as an integral part of their respective outfits. Emma used hers to add a pop of color to her outfit, layering it over the top of a peach-colored lace top. Solange, on the other hand, used hers to amplify her outfit by picking a necklace that featured a neon hue similar to one of the colors on her printed top. Gwen and Gwyneth, however, went in a different direction. Both these ladies used their necklaces to transform otherwise simple outfits. Gwen paired hers with a black tank top, while Gwyneth layered hers over a casual grey tee. The addition of these necklaces elevated their respective outfits from casual to cool, in an instant.
How can I make this look my own?
Now that you are ready for the fun part—shopping—think carefully about how and when you will use your necklace. If you think you will use it on a day-to-day basis, we suggest you opt for something in a solid metal the way Gwen and Gwyneth have done. We love House of Harlow 1960’s (0)—this is similar in style to Gwyneth’s gorgeous necklace—as well as both Mango’s (), which has just a hint of color, and Nasty Gal’s (). If you want to really amp up the volume, a la Emma and Solange, we like Orly Genger’s (0), BaubleBar’s (), and Natasha Couture’s ()—all three of these picks will draw plenty of attention.
